Located at the gateway of the Texas Hill Country in the San Marcos area, LiveOak includes both a rural residential program and our Community Living Program. With its welcoming attitude, the small, vibrant college town of San Marcos is the ideal place for individuals with cognitive disabilities to integrate and create a quality lifestyle. Our programs encourage and facilitate active participation in the community through employment, volunteering, and recreational opportunities at the recreation center, public library, restaurants, and many other local businesses.

Our rural program consists of four charming residences situated just 7 miles south of San Marcos. Set amid 8 beautiful tree-covered acres, it features a workshop, swimming pool, fishing pond, barn and animals, and residents also help operate a nursery business, A Plant Sale. With private rooms available for only twelve residents, LiveOak offers an intimate, homey living environment and a caring, supportive atmosphere where each resident can grow and develop. We provide an active daily schedule that includes work or volunteering, shopping, working out at the gym and evening recreational activities.

Our Community Living Program (CLP) offers supported apartment living for individuals who live on their own. While some individuals require only a little assistance to live independently, others may need more support. To ensure their success, we provide these residents with access to our staff 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so that they can get the helping hand they need when they need it. Family members have regular phone and e-mail contact with their loved ones, and also receive progress reports.

It's our goal to provide our residents with a sense of purpose and optimism about the future. Through work and volunteer opportunities, enjoyable social and community activities, and supportive living environments, residents of LiveOak enjoy full, meaningful lives.

My son David was injured 15 years ago and has lived at LiveOak for the past two years. The staff there provides residents with the very best quality of life. Residents are given a wide variety of activities, and the beautiful setting really offers a peaceful, enjoyable lifestyle. Our family is very happy with LiveOak and their programs.
